Every resin bound failure we're called to inspect has one thing in common: an inadequate edge. Get the perimeter right and the surface behaves for decades.
Why the edge matters
Resin bound cures as a single flexible sheet. Without a fixed restraint at the perimeter, tyres shear the edge over time and the surface migrates. A concrete haunch or resin-bonded aluminium strip prevents that.
Options we specify
Kerb stones (traditional look), aluminium edging (contemporary), granite setts (period homes), and concrete haunches (hidden behind lawns or planting). Each is included at survey stage — never bolted on afterwards.
What to avoid
Timber, plastic strip and mortar-only edges all fail within a few winters. If a quote doesn't mention the edge detail, ask before signing.
