Ask three installers how long a resin driveway lasts and you'll get three answers. The honest one: a properly installed resin bound surface lasts 20–25 years. The key word is properly.
What actually determines lifespan
Three factors dominate: the base, the resin, and the installer. A resin surface is only as good as what's underneath — laying over a cracked, unbound or poorly drained base is the number one cause of failure.
Resin chemistry matters too. Cheaper aromatic resins yellow and become brittle in UV light within a few years. Resi-Tech uses only UV-stable aliphatic resins with a minimum 18mm depth on driveways.
What a guarantee should cover
Look for a written guarantee that clearly sets out what is included, what is excluded and the maintenance you need to carry out to keep it valid. All qualifying new Resi-Tech installations are covered by a five-year guarantee, subject to the terms and conditions of the guarantee — full terms, conditions, exclusions and maintenance requirements are available on request. Be wary of unusually long or open-ended 'lifetime' claims from companies younger than the surfaces they install.
Extending the life of your surface
Sweep leaves in autumn, jet wash annually at moderate pressure, and avoid point-loading (car jacks, skip feet) without a spreader board. That's genuinely all it takes to reach the 25-year mark.
