A quick guide to the rules that apply to almost every UK homeowner replacing a front driveway.
The 5m² permeable rule
Any front-garden driveway over 5m² in an impermeable material (concrete, tarmac, block paving) needs either planning permission or a positive drainage design directing water to a soakaway or garden.
Why resin bound is different
Resin bound is fully permeable and SuDS compliant. It sits within permitted development regardless of size, provided the sub-base is also permeable — which every Resi-Tech specification is.
Documentation for your file
We provide a written permeability statement for every job. Keep it with your property deeds — future buyers' solicitors ask for it.
