Resin bound is close to maintenance-free — but 'close to' isn't 'zero'. Four straightforward habits keep your surface looking new for the full 20+ year lifespan.
1. Sweep leaves every autumn
Wet leaves left on the surface for weeks can stain lighter aggregate blends. A stiff yard brush and 10 minutes once a fortnight through autumn is enough.
2. Jet wash annually
Once a year, a moderate-pressure (below 2000psi) jet wash held 30cm from the surface at a shallow angle removes any organic film and keeps the aggregate reading brightly. Avoid concentrated jets on one spot.
3. Treat weeds early
Resin bound is inherently weed-resistant, but airborne seeds occasionally establish in surface debris. A domestic weed killer applied on the very first shoot deals with it permanently.
4. Protect against point loads
Never place a car jack or skip foot directly on the surface. Use a wooden spreader board. Point-loads are the single biggest cause of avoidable damage.
