A properly installed resin bound driveway sails through UK winters — but a few habits keep it looking new.
Ice and rock salt
Standard rock salt is safe on a cured resin bound surface. Avoid heavy repeated applications in the same spot, which can dull the aggregate over years.
Snow clearing
Use a plastic snow shovel or a broom, never a metal-edged shovel that will gouge the surface. Resin bound rarely holds ice because it drains at hundreds of litres per m² per minute.
Frost heave
An engineered permeable base drains freely, so freeze-thaw damage that plagues block paving is essentially absent from a well-built resin driveway.
Leaf mould
Autumn leaves left through a wet winter can stain paler aggregates. Sweep before December for pristine spring appearance.
